On January 8th and 9th the LUXBMX Store team and friends went on a journey to the beautiful Sunshine Coast of QLD. Despite being on the road when the horrible floods began we managed to get one solid day of riding in between the rain, as well as some solid partying that night!

Our good friends over at Laced have been putting in work for an exhibition this weekend. Dropouts: A BMXhibition will feature tons of memorabilia from some of Brisbane’s biggest BMX enthusiasts, collectors, riders and builders alike, from the old school, mid-school and new school eras. We've been lucky enough to have a few bikes featured including a super badass custom we've built for the event.

The exhibition will kick off at 7pm on Friday night and will run both days on the weekend from 10am-5pm. Make sure you drop in!

HAWxChemicalStorm Custom Bike

A few weeks ago Jeff from Chemical Storm heard about our store and came to us with a concept. He wanted a custom bike to represent what Chemical Storm was all about to put on display at Newtons Nation at Mount Panorama. The colours/design/specifications were all up to us.

After a little brainstorming we came up with a "Top-Deck" black and white concept based loosely off one of Chemical Storm's existing snowboards. We showed Jeff a quick mockup and he was psyched!

For the build itself we decided to run with Wethepeople, Eclat and Shadow Conspiracy parts. The frame is a WTP A2B with WTP Mad Max Bars and WTP Helium Forks. We thought it would be an interesting concept to use to completely different branded wheels so we ran with an Eclat rim to Eclat hub for the rear and a Shadow Orbis rim to Raptor hub on the front. The drivetrain is all Shadow with a Ravager sprocket, Torrid cranks and Ravager pedals. We tied it all up with some Eclat Scope grips, WTP seat and Primo wall tyres.

Since opening the shop we had always talked about doing "art" bikes and how we would love to push the creative side of BMX a bit further. We had met artist HAW a few weeks earlier by chance (he was lurking around our alley, haha) and had discussed the possibility of hand painted frames, which he was down with. When this project popped up HAW was our first point of call and he gladly accepted. We're beyond stoked with how it all turned out!

The bike will be on display in-store until Thursday so get in and check it out!

Ramp Attak Jam!

Thanks to everyone that made it to the jam Tuesday night and thanks to everyone that rode.

Big congrats to Yonny Wakefield for getting highest air on the vert wall, Josh Mannion for his crazy air to fakie and Dylan White for winning best trick with a super-seat to tap to whip in and a crazy flair no-hander. These three guys all won $200 gift vouchers in the shop!

Other highlights included Trav Parkley-Simpson's 360 from the top of the deck to flat, Nick Kajewski's perfect 540 truck, Jack Elkin's whip from the sub-box into the big bank and Mitch Brown's stupid-high turndown to fakies. All in all it was a fun night and we're looking forward to our next jam.

PS. On a more disappointing note, team rider and nicest guy in the world, Mike Vockenson's camera bag went missing from Ramp Attack at around 9:30pm. The bag contained camera equipment, 5 tapes of footage, 2 sets of car keys, Mikes phone and wallet and uni work. Michael dropped in today to get a few bits and pieces but ended up almost rebuilding his whole bike. Turned out great! The frame is a Macneil Bibi in the awesome light blue colourway, with matte teal Blazer forks and Silencer XLT bars (on sale now for $69.95!). Add to that a Shadow Conspiracy Wheelset and pedals in highlighter blue, some teal Odyssey Wombolts and you've got a pretty sweet setup.

Death by Wasabi went down last night and it was amazing. Had a big crew of people rock up to watch the craziness and had 6 people dumb brave enough to compete.

Congratulations to Thomas McIvor who took out the win and the frame in a tiebreaker with Henry Boffin who scored a Wasabi Colony Official stem and sprocket!

Also congrats to Ali Hassan, Joel Seiver, Julian Evans and Nick Fleming for giving it their best, the many people who turned up to watch and big thanks to Clint @ Colony BMX for helping make it happen!

Our latest custom creation. This one is a super high spec'd Macneil Bibi built with a swagger of Macneil gear including Blazer forks, Silencer XLT Bars, Cell stem, Conjoined Cranks and Dubs rims. We finished it off with Tioga Streetblock tyres, a red Tree sprocket, red Odyssey spokes and a red Profile hubset. Definitely the nicest thing we've got on the floor. Nick reppin' in Melbs!

Team rider Mike Vockenson has some cool little recaps from the recent Slay the Rails jam in Melbourne. Loads of new product rolling in the doors today. Just got the dialled new Shadow Conspiracy Vultus forks, Banned Busdaw Sprockets in all colours (herb not included), Eclat Slot-machine Pegs, the HUGE 9" high by 30" wide Shadow Vultus bars, Shadow Orbis rims and much more.

The pictures above are of stoked customer Roman's new custom wheels, Shadow rims, stainless spokes and polished Profile mini front hub with a LHD Polished Profile with a solid Ti axle on the rear. Rounded out with a Superstar hubguard on the front and a BSD hubguard on the rear. Dope!
